Marvel’s Runaways doesn’t return for its second season until later this year. But during a recent set visit by the Television Critics Association showrunner Josh Schwartz has discussed adding more elements from the comics.
Speaking to Deadline Schwartz said of the second season “It’s going to accelerate. We are now running with our kids. Our focus shifts to these kids and trying to survive in the streets… there’s a greater sense of tension and momentum in keeping with where we are in this part of the story.”
“In the real world, young people are dealing with adult themes,” said Schwartz. “The world the adults are leaving young people, there’s a responsibility on young people to fix this world. It feels so broken in so many ways. That is also a theme for our characters and for the show.”
The showrunner and Executive Producer also touched on the addition of new characters to the series revealing “there are some characters who appear in the book who are appearing in Season 2.”
Marvel’s Runaways stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Brittany Ishibashi, James Yaegashi, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannagh, Annie Wersching, Kip Pardue, James Marsters and Ever Carradine.
The series is available to stream via Hulu in the US.
