Fox shareholders approve $71.3 billion merger… the X-MEN are coming home!

Last time we took a look at the potential merger between Disney and 20th Century Fox we were awaiting the outcome of a shareholders meeting.
That meeting has now taken place and the verdict is… the merger is on!
Yes 20th Century Fox’s shareholders have voted in favour of the $71.3 billion offer from Disney to acquire the company. That means that Marvel properties Fantastic Four and X-Men are now officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There’s no timescale for the characters officially moving over but it is now a done deal. Whether this will have an impact on the upcoming New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix movies remains to be seen,
As part of the merger Disney will also acquire the Avatar, Kingsman and Planet of the Apes. The merger will also give Disney the home video rights to the first three Star Wars movies which still sat under the 20th Century Fox banner.
