An utterly ridiculous rumour circled the web yesterday saying the X-Men: Dark Phoenix had been removed from 20th Century Fox’s release schedule.
The rumour stated that the film had been removed from the Fox website. This removal was taken as sign that rumoured reshoots had been poorly received by studio execs. The film was subsequently said to have been shelved.
We don’t know about you, but films with $100m+ budgets aren’t often cancelled!
Fox themselves have now commented to dispel rumours.
A Fox spokesperson confirmed to CBR.com that X-Men: Dark Phoenix was never showcased on the site to begin with. The reason is simple: the page serve as portals to the website of each individual movie and is typically launched with the debut of the first trailer.
There you have it, chalk that one up to pure rumour!
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is being directed by Simon Kinberg. James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender are confirmed to return to the roles of Charles Xavier, Mystique and Magneto respectively. Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munnm Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp and Kodi Smit-McPhee will also return.
