The weekend is over. The receipts have been counted. Solo: A Star Wars Story has suffered from a difficult second weekend at the box office.
In North America the returns fell around 65% from the $84.7m opening. This weekend the film was able to keep the top spot on the charts but only grossed an extra $29.3m for a domestic total of $148.9m. Bare in mind the film was originally forecast to make $130m-$170m in it’s opening weekend alone those numbers aren’t good.
Sadly the picture is equally as un-inspiring internationally. Despite already having opened in nearly all international territories the film had a second weekend haul of $30.3. That means two weeks in to its box office run Solo has only been able to amass $264.2m.
Analysts believe the film will now struggle to hit $400m worldwide.
