The weekend is over and the numbers are in. Deadpool 2 has opened to $301.3m at the worldwide box office!
The Merc has dethroned Avengers: Infinity War from the top of the box office. Going in to the weekend estimates ranged from $130-$150m domestic. The final weekend estimates put the film a little lower at$125m. The first Deadpool took $132m back in 2016.
Though disappointing that Deadpool 2 failed to overtake the first film it’s still an impressive haul for an R-rated movie.
Internationally Wade Wilson was able to make an impressive $176.3 million, a record overseas debut for Fox International, topping the $174 million for X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Deadpool 2 faces a difficult time over the next couple of weeks with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story next week and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom the week after.

Ryan Reynolds will be joined in Deadpool 2 by T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Stefan Kapičić who all reprise roles from the first film. Newcomers to the franchise include Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz, Jack Kesy and Shioli Kutsuna. David Leitch takes over directing duties for the sequel.
