Black Panther continues to dominate the global box office. The film had a huge opening day in China taking an estimated $22.7m. That figure gives it the third-best opening day of all-time in the Middle Kingdom behind only Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War.
Estimates in the press put the film as earning in the region of $65-$75m for its opening weekend.
With that figure in the bank the film has now easily crossed $980m worldwide. By the close of play this weekend the Ryan Coogler helmed film will have crossed $1 billion!
It is now the second highest grossing movie in the MCU in North America. Worldwide it is currently the 5th highest grossing in the franchise.

Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler from a screenplay co-written with Joe Robert Cole. Chadwick Boseman reprises his role as T’Challa/Black Panther and is joined in the film by Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Any Serkis and Forest Whitaker.
The Marvel Studios/Disney film landed in cinemas on February 12, 2018 in the UK and Feb 16 in the US.
