Rumours have been circulating for the last few weeks that all is not well with the cast of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Reports pointed to the revelation that actors Andrew Lincoln (Rick) and Norman Reedus (Daryl) are receiving a substantially higher wage than others on the show.
Specific reports pointed to Lauren Cohan as leading the charge for equality. The actress has been with the show as Maggie Greene since season 2 and has been lobbying for equal pay across the series main cast. With her contract up for negotiation at the end of the current season this has lead to concern the actress may exit the show.
This latest news will not help stoke the fires… Cohan has booked a new pilot with ABC Studios. She is set to star a pilot called Whiskey Cavalier written and executive produced by Dave Hemingson. The show is described as a high-octane hour-long action dramedy following the adventures of tough but tender FBI super agent Will Chase (Scott Foley) who, following an emotional break-up, is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (Cohan). Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny, heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics. Lawrence and Ingold will also executive produce, with their Doozer Productions producing in association with Warner Bros. Television. Foley will also serve as producer.
Variety broke the story adding that Cohan could drop her status at The Walking Dead to recurring should Whiskey Cavalier be picked up for a full season.
The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Amelio, Tom Payne, Xander Berkeley, Khary Payton, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The show airs on AMC in the states and here on FOX UK.
