First poster for ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’ drops

Star Wars alum John Boyega took to twitter last night to drop the first poster for his next movie: Pacific Rim: Uprising. The film acts as the sequel to 2013’s  first outing which was directed by Guillermo del Toro.

Sadly del Toro is only acting as a producer on this film alongside Boyega. Directing duties are being handled by Angel and Daredevil helmer Steven S. DeKnight.

The first trailer will drop next week at New York Comic Con.

Little is known about the story of Pacific Rim: Uprising at this stage. We know that Boyega is playing a character called Jake Pentecost and that his Jaeger (seen in the poster) is called Gypsey Avenger. The film is set sometime after the events of the first film and will continue the storylines it began.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is directed by Steven S. DeKnight based on a script by Guillermo del Toro, Zack Penn, John Spaihts, Derek Connolly, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder and T.S. Nowlin. The film stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian and Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman.

The film hits cinemas on March 23, 2018.
