Well Marvel’s Inhumans finally made it’s bow at the box office. After a slew of negative reviews and a serious lack of buzz the film was able to garner enough attention to make $1.5m at the North American box office.
Heading in to the weekend box office predictions put the 75 minute presentation at a possible $2m. But with the review embargo lifting so late and an inevitable barrage of bad press brought that number down.
Though Rotten Tomatoes is yet to give the series an official score the audience anticipation rating has fallen to a mere 57%.
Working in favour of Marvel’s Inhumans was it’s international release. The pilot was able to rake in a further $1.1m internationally for a global haul of $2.6m and counting.
Overall that’s not a bad gross for a TV to film presentation. In 2015 Game of Thrones aired two episodes in IMAX theatres for a $1.4m gross. It is expected that poor word-of-mouth will continue to stifle the performance of Black Bolt and the Inhumans family for the remainder of its short theatrical run.
Created by Scott Buck, Marvel’s Inhumans stars Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Sonya Balmores as Auran, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak and Mike Moh as Triton.
The series premiered in IMAX on September 1, 2017 and hits ABC later in the month.
