‘Power Rangers’ opening the weekend saw the film soar to an estimated $59.2M worldwide. Studio estimates put the film around the $30-40M mark at the North American box office. After grossing approximately $15M on Friday, the film fell slightly the $14.5M on Saturday before rounding out the weekend with $10.9M on Sunday. Overall its North America opening weekend clocked in at $40.9M
The international gross was a little more on the lacklustre side. Having opened in 62 territories ‘Power Rangers’ was only able to muster $18.7M for a worldwide total of $59.2M. Key territories in the ‘Power Rangers’ rollout were in Latin America with Mexico opening at No. 2 with $3M and Brazil grabbing $2.1M, but also stalling in second place.
The film is still to open in France, Italy and Spain, all due top open on April 5th. Korea and Japan – home to ‘Super Sentai’ – are still to open later in Spring.

Sabans Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove (and the world) is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
