With their crossover event fast approaching (bad pun) CBS has unveiled a parody of the ‘Superman’ #199 cover featuring Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin as their two superhero alter-egos.
Fans of the ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ and ‘Supergirl’ universe – or universes – have been hoping that The CW and CBS networks would be able to pull off a crossover event that would bring these heroes together and on March 28th that event finally takes the form of ‘Supergirl’ episode ‘Worlds Finest’.
CBS haven’t only released the poster for the crossover, they have also given us the plot for the episode:
Kara gains a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash (Grant Gustin) suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, aka Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home.
Some fans will likely be disappointed, but not entirely surprised, that Flash will be appearing from another universe. It’s a good metaphor for the different networks but also means that the ubeat nature of ‘Supergirl’ need not come in to conflict with the overall downbeat atmosphere of ‘Arrow’. Although there’s nothing to say that there isn’t a version of Kara running around in the Earth-1 universe and no confirmation of which Earth this Kara exists on.
The door really is open to the whole multiverse throughout the DCTV universe now!
