Wonder Woman is steel reaping the benefits of being 2017’s most forward thinking film. Produced by a predominantly female crew under the watchful eye of a female director. The film has been praised across the board for its gender portrayal both in front of and behind the camera.
It is only natural that its sequel, Wonder Woman 2, continue that tradition. At The Producers Guild of America Awards over the weekend it was announced the sequel will be the first to adopt new anti-sexual harassment policies behind the scenes.
“Sexual harassment can no longer be tolerated in our industry or within the ranks of the Producers Guild membership. As producers, we provide key leadership in creating and sustaining work environments built on mutual respect, so it is our obligation to change our culture and eradicate this abuse.
While the PGA is a voluntary membership organization, the PGA’s Anti-Sexual Harassment Guidelines are sanctioned as best practices for our members. The PGA is indebted to Time’s Up as a resource in creating our protocols. We will continue to work with them, the industry-wide Commission led by Anita Hill, and other organizations in our community until sexual harassment is eliminated from the entertainment workplace.”
Wonder Woman 2 is due to hit cinemas in November 2019.
