Reigning Phoenix Music has announced a collaboration with Hasbro for the release of The Transformers: The Movie: The Soundtrack: The Reformatted Edition, a reimagined soundtrack for The Transformers: The Movie (1986) featuring an epic line up of guest performers and lifelong Transformers fans.

Set for release on the 24th July 2026, this huge project rebuilds 10 iconic tracks from the ground up, mixing modern production techniques with the raw, heavy metal spirit of the original 1986 masterpiece.

The backbone of this reimagining is driven by Knights of Unicron, a powerhouse trio comprised of metal veterans Matt Harvey, Gus Rios, and Ross Sewage. Together, they have injected a heavier, sharper, and more aggressive edge into the classic tracklist.

The biggest news for die-hard fans though is the triumphant return of the legendary Stan Bush. Forty years after defining an entire generation’s sense of heroism, Bush has re-recorded his legendary anthems, “The Touch” and “Dare,” specifically for this release.

Fans don’t have to wait until July to get their first taste of the heavy metal revolution. Hasbro and Reigning Phoenix Music have officially released the first single today—Stan Bush’s brand-new re-recording of “The Touch”—alongside an accompanying music video.

“It is an absolute honor to be able to pay tribute and work
alongside Hasbro on the 40th Anniversary celebration of one of the most iconic
    movie soundtracks of our generation”.

Gerardo Martinez Co-Founder of Reigning Phoenix Music

The production pedigree behind the album ensures a massive sound. It was produced and engineered by Matt LaPlant, with mixing and mastering handled by the legendary Zeuss, known for his work with Rob Zombie. The entire record was captured at Ripper’s Lair in an undisclosed location, featuring new cover artwork designed by Matt Ferguson.

The Reformatted Edition will be available on all major streaming platforms as well as various physical formats, including limited-edition vinyl. Standard trade-wide pre-orders are live now, alongside exclusive vinyl variants available specifically through Amazon and Target.

    1. The Touch – Knights of Unicron featuring Stan Bush (Originally by Stan Bush)
    2. Instruments of Destruction – Knights of Unicron featuring Francesco Cavalieri (Originally by N.R.G.)

I am an ex Royal Navy sailor who loves all things geek. I have a strong admiration of anime as well as western television shows and movies. From a young age I was into video games as well as TV shows, often spotted in front of a screen somewhere. My goal is to become a screenwriter/director one day and left the Royal Navy after 9 years to better pursue that dream of mine.
