Today, Prime Video confirmed that Jamie Campbell Bower and Eddie Marsan have joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for the series’ upcoming third season, which is currently in pre-production and will begin filming this spring at the series’ new production home at Shepperton Studios in the UK. Bower will be a series regular, while Marsan will appear in a recurring role.

    JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER

Widely considered one of Britain’s brightest stars, with a career spanning theatre, TV and film, Jamie Campbell Bower is also an accomplished musician who has toured Europe and America. He is widely known for his incredible performance as Henry Creel/Vecna in Stranger Things. Other TV appearances include playing Mick Jagger in Urban Myths: Mick & Margaret, Christopher Marlow in Will, King Arthur inCamelot, the voice of Skiff in the wonderful Thomas & Friends, and 11-12 in the remake of The Prisoner alongside Sir Ian McKellen.

Bower made his film debut in Tim Burton’s gothic musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street in a leading role opposite Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman and Helena Bonham Carter. He played the role of Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I and reprised that role in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He also appeared in London Boulevard, Guy Richie’s RocknRolla, Martin Koolhoven’s Winter in Wartime, Anonymous directed by Roland Emmerich, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 & 2, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and most recently in Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.

    EDDIE MARSAN

The recipient of two BIFA Awards for his role in Mike Leigh’s features Vera Drake and Happy Go Lucky, as well several international critics and festival awards, Eddie Marsan’s extensive body of work spans over 20 years. Eddie has been a fierce champion of underprivileged and diverse representation in the film industry and was recently awarded an OBE.  He has several films and TV projects coming out over the next year. He recently starred in the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black, the Apple TV+ series Franklin opposite Michael Douglas, Netflix’s Supacell, the feature Firebrandalongside Jude Law and Alicia Vikander, the Brian Epstein biopic Midas Man, The Winter King with Toni Collette and Guy Ritchie’s Operation Fortune: Ruse de Geurre. He also starred in the Netflix thriller Choose or Die and the dystopian sci-fi drama Vesper.

In 2013 Marsan began his iconic role as Terry Donovan in Ray Donovan, which ran for seven seasons on Showtime, and which he reprised for the 2022 feature film. A role inDeadpool 2 brought Marsan into the DC Universe, and his role in the pulp thriller Atomic Blonde marked the beginning of his multiple collaborations with director David Leitch. Other notable roles include Guy Ritchie’s Wrath of Man for Prime Video, the four-part Channel 4 drama Deceit, the TV adaptation of the novel Ridley Road, the crime thriller White Boy Rick, Adam McKay’s political comedy Vice. His expansive career includes acclaimed independent projects such as Tyrannosaur alongside Olivia Coleman and Edgar Wright’s franchise The World’s End, alongside Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. He has also appeared in blockbuster features such as Gangs of New York, War Horse, V for Vendetta, Mission Impossible 3, Hancock, Snow White and the Huntsman, Hobbs and Shaw, and Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been an unprecedented success, with a broad, highly engaged, global fan base. Critics have praised the series for its epic scope and production values, and Seasons One and Two are Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Season One remains the biggest TV premiere in the history of Prime Video and Season Two the most-watched returning season by hours watched.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström.
