    Synopsis

Hermes returns in a nightmarish new form, transformed and reborn by the myths of the children who witnessed Edwin’s arrival, the bloody waters, and the astral phenomena. Driven by Edwin’s consumed memories, Hermes is determined to transform yet again, fully absorbing Edwin to become the ultimate hunter of hunters

    Review

In part three of House of Slaughter: Azure, we delve into a house that is rapidly falling into disrepair, mirroring the unravelling of its secrets. This instalment not only deepens the mystery but also raises intriguing questions about the characters and the intricate world they inhabit. As we explore these developments, we are invited to reevaluate everything we thought we knew so far.

The latest issue of the House of Slaughter: Azure had everything I have come to love about this series. It’s shocking, makes me think, and keeps me on my toes. Action, horror, and mysteries aside, this issue presents some intriguing questions and ideologies about the intentions and beliefs of the order. Specifically, it questions how people can hold such strong beliefs in things they’ve never seen and with so little tangible evidence. It really makes you wonder about their motives and what keeps those beliefs alive. Naturally, there’s a religious and political subtext to this, but within the confines of the story, it’s quite powerful, and it brings the intentions of everyone into question in a way that feels relevant and thought-provoking.

One of my favourite parts of this issue was learning more about the Azures—as we learn that they’re the only ones in the House of Slaughter who keep their surnames. That little detail adds so much depth and gives them a unique generational prestige that sets them apart from others. The lore continues to evolve with each issue, which makes it such a fascinating read. Just when you think you know all the rules, the game evolves, changing how you see it.

Alongside all the lore and character moments, there is also a mystery going on, and as we piece together the mystery, it becomes even more fascinating. And can we talk about that ending? It’s an absolute rollercoaster packed with twists and shocking moments that totally took me by surprise! It was just the right mix of everything I hoped for and expected from this series: dark, jarring, and shocking, and it leaves me with more questions than answers, which all good comics should do.

    Verdict

Overall, House of Slaughter: Azure continues to captivate with its layered storytelling and thought-provoking themes. While the pacing might be a little wonky in places, it’s hard to deny that each instalment not only builds on the intricate lore but also challenges readers to question their understanding of belief and intention. With its thrilling twists and rich character development, this series leaves readers eagerly anticipating what comes next. This series keeps getting better and better.
