It appears all is no well in camp Star Trek. With the news that two films are currently in the pipeline it was hoped something would be announced at either SDCC or this years Trek convention in Las Vegas.
Sadly no film news was confirmed by Paramount and we continue to be in the dark as to the studios plans. With a script from Quentin Tarantino in the pipeline for future production it seemed the studio was firstly pushing forwards on Star Trek 4 with S.J. Clarkson at the helm.
However over the weekend news broke that cast negotiations have led to Chris Pine and on-screen father Chris Hemsworth walking away from the table.
Rumours state that following the lacklustre performance of previous movie Star Trek: Beyond the studio has reduced the budget for the next film. That budget reduction has required both Chris’ to take a payout which neither is willing to agree to.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and claims deals with returning stars Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, and John Cho were expected to be finalized after both Pine and Hemsworth, but their statuses are now uncertain as well.
