Scooby Doo is retuning to the big screen, but this time in a fully animated feature. Warner Bros. are set to develop the first Scooby Doo theatrical release since 2004’s Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed.
Following the lacklustre success of the two live-action movies released in the early 2000’s Warner Bros. took the franchise back to the small screen where it has continued its long running success.
THR has exclusively revealed the first four cast members who have boarded the movie.
Last Man on Earth star Will Forte will take the lead as Shaggy Rogers, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez will be playing sidekick Velma Dinkley. Meanwhile Tracy Morgan will play Captain Caveman and Frank Welker will return to the role of Scooby Doo himself.
It is reported that the movies storyline will find Mystery Inc. working with other Hanna-Barbera heroes to solve a mystery involving Dick Dasterdly. This would explain the inclusion of Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman. Little more is known about the movie at this stage.
Scooby Doo is set for release on May 15, 2020.
