In case you missed it: the end oblast week brought some shocking but not unsurprising news about Disney’s newly acquired 20th Century Fox. It’s been confirmed that Disney is rebranding the 20th Century and Searchlight studios to remove the FOX name altogether. Variety has confirmed that moving forward, the two studios will simply be called “20th Century Studios” and “Searchlight Pictures.” Visually, the logos for the two studios won’t be changed too much, but they’ll also remove the word Fox. Another former cast member from Lana Wachowski’s Sense8 has joined the cast of The Matrix 4. Following the announcement that Max Riemelt had joined the cast of the new film, it has now been revealed that co-star Eréndira Ibarra will also appear. Deadline is reporting the latest casting news but, of course, there are currently no details as to who Ibarra will be playing. The weekend saw a tight race for the top spot at the box office, with Sony Pictures Bad Boys For Life taking the top spot in North America. It’s worth noting it was Martin Luther King weekend in the US meaning it was a four-day holiday for many. Last night Supergirl made a return to our screens post-Crisis with its midseason premiere. Some interesting news regarding the yet-to-launch new The Walking Dead series, World Beyond. The series, which debuts later in 2020, has been confirmed by AMC to tell a self-contained story over the course of two years. Via Collider, the new spinoff series will premiere in North America on Sunday, April 12 at 10pm following The Walking Dead season 10 finale. subsequent episodes airing at 9pm. But that is all about to change following the news that his new series, Superman & Lois, has been picked up to series by The CW.
