Joker was already tipped for big things when fans learned it would have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Over the weekend the festival drew to a close with its annual awards ceremony celebrating the best of the festival. Warner Bros. is gearing up for the release of Doctor Sleep in November. The film serves as a sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and the Stephen King novel on which it was based. In news that surprises absolutely no one, IT: Chapter Two failed to meet it’s predecessor at the box office this weekend. The Andy Muschietti sequel garnered an estimated $91M this time around, from an absolutely huge 4,570 screens. This represents a reasonable drop of 26% from the first movies opening weekend of $123.4M, while still accounting for 75% of all tickets sales for the Top 10 movies at the box office. Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins has signed a new, multi-year deal with Netflix to produce television content for the streaming platform.
