The Millennium Falcon may have made the Kessel Run in (around) 12 parsecs but that didn’t make for a great weekend for Solo: A Star Wars Story. Going in to the weekend estimates placed the film at around $170m in North America alone. After a $14.1m gross in Thursday previews the film went on to make $35m in its opening day. Following the underwhelming performance of Transformers: The Last Knight it seems Paramount Pictures has finally made a decision about the future of the franchise. With Bumblee due for release later this year it seems the studio will focus its attentions elsewhere for the time being.
