This week Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse finally opened in China. The Sony Pictures animation topped the box office with a conservative $26.1M taking its international total to $64.8M. In its second weekend frame the movie dropped around 53%, taking an estimated $16.7M. It’s domestic total currently sits at around $64M. It’s expected the movie will have good legs through the winter season given the exceptional A+ CinemaScore given by fans on opening night. This weekend didn’t just see the North American launch of Aquaman. Paramount Pictures also dropped the latest and best received entry in to the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee. The movie has been well received by critics, scoring a coveted 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes it’s easily the best reviewed movie in the franchise. The movie landed in third place on the North American box office with a $21M opening. That puts it around half of the opening weekend of previous movie The Last Knight ($44M). Aquaman is finally in cinemas across the globe. Around 70 territories reported huge box office takings for the latest DC Comics movie across the weekend. All eyes were, of course, on its North American opening which had estimates ranging from $60M all the way up to $80M. Well the weekend is over and the box office receipts have been counted and Aquaman has performed exactly as expected. Early estimates report that the Warner Bros. release has taken $67.4M. The first box office new on Aquaman is beginning to come in from North America. Following the $4M in Amazon previews taken last weekend the movie has opened with an estimated $9M in Thursday night previews. That puts its domestic gross around $13-14M mark going in to the weekend. Expectations remain that the latest DC Films release will make around $80M over the three-day weekend and $100-110M over the five-day holiday weekend. Stargirl is quickly becoming the largest cast of all the DC Universe streaming series. Following previous casting announcements of members of the Justice Society of America we now have some villainous counterparts to add to the list. Deadline is reporting that three members of the Injustice Society have been cast. The team is a volatile collective of master criminals dating back to 1947 in the pages of DC Comics. EW has debuted a new still from Young Justice: Outsiders which points to a huge upgrade for one of the series original characters. Kaldur’ahm debuted in the first season of Young Justice as a new character designed for the show. He went on to become a breakout star in the first season. The first features the titular demon alongside Daniel Dae Kim as Ben and Sasha Lane as Alice. This appears to be from a scene not glimpsed in the trailer.
