The D23 fan event absolutely bombarded us with exciting announcements, updates, trailers and castings. It’s always a treat that comes with many surprises. Among the avalanche of news, Rapunzel decided to drop down from her tower and give fans an update regarding the upcoming live-action adaptation.
It wasn’t a huge update since filming is still taking place in Spain, but we did get to see Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim in costume as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, as well as Kathryn Hahn as the glorious Mother Gothel. Hahn took to the stage at D23 and thanked fans for essentially manifesting her casting, for years fans have envisioned Hahn as the perfect live-action Gothel, so to see Hahn acknowledge that was both hilarious and endearing.
The studio also revealed thatTangled will be hitting the big screen on March 31st, 2028.
The live-action adaptation, which stars Croft, Manheim, Hahn and Diego Luna in a brand new role, is directed by Michael Gracey (Better Man, The Greatest Showman). Kristin Burr (Freakier Friday, Cruella) is producing with a script written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Thor: Love and Thunder) and Michael Montemayor (Everyone I Know is Dead).
With filming underway, it hopefully won’t be long before we see a full trailer. We are absolutely dying to see little Pascal. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on any further updates. For now, keep your eyes peeled for those lanterns…
