Epic Games, Disney, and Lucasfilm have joined forces to give fans unique access to their upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu. Launched just ahead of the movie’s cinematic release today, this interactive Watch Party Island offers a perfect blend of cinema and gaming.
The special island features an exclusive 10-minute sneak peek of the upcoming film, alongside a personal message from director Jon Favreau.
Working closely with Jon Favreau’s storytelling creative studio to ensure every single aspect of the experience, from the architecture of Nevarro to the custom quest designs, was built using assets from Fortnite’s official STAR WARS toolkit, which currently stands as the largest intellectual property toolset in the game’s history.

The island offers a variety of interactive environments and gameplay loops for players to dive into. Visitors can explore iconic Star Wars locations like the city streets of Nevarro and the Imperial safehouse. While navigating the island, players can interact with both fresh and fan-favorite characters, spend time with Grogu himself, and pick up specific bounty quests from Marshall IG-11. For those looking for action, the island supports competitive 1v1 and 2v2 player battles.
The island also introduces a dynamic event where players can enlist as newly recruited Deputies to defend the area during an Imperial attack, which includes assembling a speeder bike to race across the city.
Epic Games has introduced multiple incentives to encourage players to jump in:
By spending just 20 minutes exploring the Watch Party Island, players will permanently unlock the exclusive Mandalorian Sanctuary Loading Screen, which showcases official concept art from the film.
Additionally, the highly anticipated Mandalorian Pen & Ink Outfit officially made its debut in the Fortnite Item Shop yesterday, May 21, allowing players to sport a stylized look inspired by the galaxy’s favorite bounty hunter.
Community Q&A with Jon Favreau
The event does not end with the movie’s cinematic premiere though as players are encouraged to return to the island’s digital amphitheater on the 26th May. The virtual venue will host a special broadcast where director Jon Favreau will answer fan questions directly submitted by the Fortnite community, discussing both the secrets behind the new movie and the intricate process of bringing this crossover island to life.
