The story follows Jiro Azuma who, unlike his classmates, has been trained in the ancient warrior arts of the shinobi. Jiro also happens to be a gifted communicator, capable of conversing with the animal world.
However, his life takes an abrupt turn following a mysterious encounter in the forest with an injured black cat named Rago. As it turns out, Rago’s feline appearance is deceiving—this “ordinary” cat is actually the stuff of mononoke legend: The Black Star of Doom!
Swarming in the shadows are other mononoke, eager to exploit Rago’s immense power. To fight back against the tide of dark spirits, the undercover Bureau of Espionage is poised to seek and destroy. While everyone has their own motives regarding Rago’s abilities, Jiro and Rago are ready to face them head-on.
A shinobi clash between boy and mononoke is about to ignite!
