We’re spoiling you with comic book announcements today Super Friends. Another hot off the presses announcement from DC now as fan-favourite crossover series, DC x Sonic the Hedgehog speeds back into comic book stores following the runaway success of its first run.
This brand-new five-issue comic book adventure will reunite the Justice League with Sonic the Hedgehog and Team Sonic, featuring more character pairings for fans to look forward to. The next chapter of this blockbuster collaboration begins May 5, 2026, with DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #1.
The worlds of DC Comics’ Justice League and SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog™ collide once more in another thrilling crossover filled with action, adventure, laughs, and perils. Mysterious mechanical rings have appeared across both worlds, linking them together and unleashing all things wonderful, worrisome, and weird. The heroes are happily reunited, but little do they suspect there’s a sinister origin behind their unexpected team-ups.
Written by fan-favorite Sonic scribe Ian Flynn and illustrated by returning artist Adam Bryce Thomas, DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion reunites the creative team that helped make the first crossover a smash hit with fans, retailers, and readers of all ages.
“I had an absolute blast the last time around, and I’m really happy that little tease we left at the end of the first crossover is finally coming to fruition,” said Flynn. “I hope everyone enjoys this second go around as much as I did writing it!”
DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #1 features a main cover by Pablo M. Collar, with variant covers by Adam Bryce Thomas, Serg Acuña, and Min Ho Kim. The 32-page debut issue arrives May 5, 2026, priced at $3.99 US, with card stock variants available for $4.99 US.

The first DC x Sonic the Hedgehog series became one of DC’s most talked-about launches of 2025, racing through multiple printings of issue #1. Fans embraced the high-speed crossover of two iconic worlds, celebrating its energetic storytelling, dynamic artwork, and all-ages appeal. Retailers reported sustained demand throughout the series’ run, making it one of the standout successes of the year. The collected edition is available wherever books are sold.
DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion continues the larger cross-brand partnership between DC and SEGA of America, which spans comic books, apparel, collectibles, toys, and more. The collaboration kicked off with the 2025 comic book series and expanded across consumer products throughout the year, now available at Target, Walmart, and more, with additional initiatives planned for 2026 and beyond.
