The Sonic the Hedghehog family is growing fast with a fourth movie on the way and a cast that continues to expand. After much anticipation, especially after that post credit scene in Sonic 3, we finally have a voice actor for the beloved Amy Rose. Paramount Pictures have announced that Kirsten Bell has joined the upcoming sequel as the loveable and fierce hedgehog.
Ben Schwartz, the actor behind Sonic, took to instagram to announce the news with an adorable picture of himself and Kirsten holding Funko POPs of their characters.
Jeff Fowler is back in the director’s chair for this fourth movie with Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara returning as producers. The current release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is March 19th, 2027 and any details concerning the plot are being stored away much like Project Shadow.
In the video games, Rose is Sonic’s would-be girlfriend, whether he likes it or not, so it will be interesting to see how that relationship translates onto the big screen. The post credit scene also teased the arrival of Metal Sonic- but who could be pulling the strings? We could sit here and speculate for days, but we’ll just have to wait for something official to be released. Our guess is that another character from the Sonic universe will also appear alongside Amy and Metal Sonic to really propel the franchise forward. With an arsenal of characters at their disposal, the success of Sonic 3 seems to have given them the confidence to expand on the lore and open it up to more casual viewers as well as those die hard fans.
Regardless of who joins, we’re over the moon with how the franchise has been evolving. However, we are praying that Shadow the Hedgehog returns. With multiple heroes on earth, the threat must be even bigger than revenge guac and Gerald Robotnik combined…
