London’s Science Museum has announced a huge series of programming to mark 60 years of the iconic Star Trek franchise. To celebrate the landmark anniversary, visitors – in a world first – can watch all thirteen blockbuster films in the franchise on one of the biggest cinema screens in Europe for the very first time. A free trail spanning the museum will feature iconic objects from the franchise’s archives, curated by the Science Museum. Tickets for all of the museum’s Trek-themed events are available now.

Fans wishing to take home a memento of the celebrations will find exclusive products created for the anniversary, including a limited-edition anniversary coin and apparel, will be available in a Star Trek takeover of the mezzanine level of the museum’s shop. The programme of activity will launch on Thursday 26 March (stardate -629499.47), with a special edition of the Science Museum free adults-only event, Lates.

“Star Trek has invited audiences to be curious explorers for decades – a mission we know something about at the Science Museum” says Dr Glyn Morgan, Head of Collections and Principal Curator at the Science Museum. “Star Trek as a cultural phenomenon has played a real role in changing the world of STEM, from inspiring technical innovations to encouraging a generation of modern astronauts. I hope that this Star Trek at 60 programme at the Science Museum inspires visitors to consider what might be possible if you boldly go where no one has gone before.”

    Star Trek Lates

The Star Trek at 60 programme will open on Thursday 26 March with a special edition of Lates. Visitors to this after-hours event will be among the first to experience the Star Trek Trail and access the museum’s exclusive Star Trek 60th anniversary product range. Amid out-of-this-world DJs, scientists, speakers, and performers, visitors are encouraged to don their costumes and strut the iconic catwalk in Energy Hall, pose for a photo in our 360 Enterprise Bridge experience or discover more about what cutting-edge research says about the big science questions of Star Trek, from augments to replicators.

Star Trek at 60 Film Season

Star Trek remains one of culture’s greatest and most enduring sagas and, for the very first time, audiences can experience the entire cinematic legacy in one season. Many of the films have been digitised for the first time, ahead of the screenings at the Science Museum’s IMAX: The Ronson Theatre, one of the biggest screens in the UK. This complete collection spans more than four decades of cinema, from the classic original voyages to the modern reboot blockbusters. Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond will be screened in full IMAX format. The film season will kick off at Star Trek Lates on Thursday 26 March and full details of the screenings are included below.
