Fans in Godzilla’s home country of Japan have been celebrating 71 years since the Titan first blazed a trail across cinema screens. Having celebrated an Academy Award win in 2024 for visual effects in Godzilla Minus One, Toho International has finally – officially – announced that film’s sequel is on the way.
The studio has debuted a short teaser trailer revealing the sequel is officially titled Godzilla Minus Zero. No release date or casting has been announced. But we do know that writer-director-VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki is returning to helm this latest film.

We fully anticipate that stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe will return as Shikishima and Noriko to pick up on the cliffhanger ending of the last film. Given the ominous black mark on Noriko’s neck seen at the end of Minus One there is plenty more story to tell with these characters.
