This week DC Comics celebrates one year of its blockbuster Absolute Universe. The celebrations begin with the release of a new one-shot story, Absolute Evil, from writer Al Ewing and artists Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Nesi and Romulo Fajardo Jr.
The story arrives as DC prepares to kick off its DC K.O. event which may just see the prime universe and the Absolute universe crossing over for the very first time. Today we’re taking a closer look at the Absolute Evil special with a full cover gallery and brand new preview pages. But before we dive in to the artwork take a look at the official synopsis for the book:
The emergence of superheroes has caught the attention of the world…and it’s certainly caught the attention of the people who run it. Ra’s al Ghul, Veronica Cale, Elenore Thawne, Hector Hammond, and the mysterious “Joker” have worked at cross-purposes until now, but this growing threat requires new ways of thinking…and new partnerships. An insidious betrayal from within their ranks is imminent, and if they don’t take action, they’ll lose control of a planet that was built to be their playground! Superstars Al Ewing and Giuseppe Camuncoli join forces to kickstart the next era of Absolute Universe stories…with several shocking new character reveals, and one big unmissable twist!
Main cover art for the book comes from the book’s main art team. Variant cover designs come from Fabrizio De Tommaso, Gerald Parel, Dustin Nguyen, Riley Rossmo and a New York Comic-Con exclusive cover from David Nakayama. Take a look at each of the cover designs below:
