Crunchyroll, Aniplex and Sony Pictures’ Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle delivered a £3.4m box office in its opening weekend, breaking the record for highest earning for an anime film in the UK & Ireland.
The film opened on 12th September across nearly 500 screens with an average of £7K per screen making it the highest earning film in the UK & Ireland, per screen average, for its opening weekend. As of right now, Infinity Castle has grossed over $470 million at the worldwide box office. To put that into perspective, it’s just over $30 million away from surpassing Mugen Train, which currently holds the record for the highest grossing anime film worldwide. Could Infinity Castle beat that record? It’s certainly looking that way.
