Vertigo Releasing has announced the digital and physical releases of Dangerous Animals in the UK and Ireland. The shark horror-turned-survival thriller is directed by horror auteur Sean Byrne (The Devil’s Candy), and stars Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad), Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) and Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy) as the leading trio.
The film follows Zephyr, a rebellious surfer, who finds herself held captive on a shark-obsessed serial killer’s boat in the middle of the ocean. Racing against time, she must figure out a way to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.

In our two-star review of the film Matt said: “For genre enthusiasts hoping for a truly terrifying new entry, Dangerous Animals unfortunately leaves you feeling high and dry. I could even go as far as to say it felt like we had experienced a TV version of the movie, complete with questionable edits designed to hide the gore from the viewer. It had every opportunity to deliver this white-knuckle, truly gory and terrifying ride, but in the end, it just never quite took the bait.”
The film world premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival to both critical and popular acclaim, before releasing theatrically in the UK and Ireland on 6th June. Vertigo will release the film on all major digital platforms on 25th July, then release into physical retailers on 8th September with newly packaged DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K HDR discs – all of which include new featurettes and extras for the UK and Irish markets.
DANGEROUS ANIMALS WILL BE RELEASED ON DIGITAL PLATFORMS JULY 25 AND ON 4K HDR, BLU-RAY & DVD SEPTEMBER
