Fresh from the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation has announced that development is underway on a Mister Miracle animated series.
Tom King, writer of the Eisner-winning Mister Miracle comics with Mitch Gerads, is showrunning and executive producing the series. Production is understood to be underway although a network to air the series remains to be confirmed at this stage. The show follows James Gunn’s Creature Commandos, which is gearing up for production on a second season for HBO Max. No details were given on voice casting for Mister Miracle.
Should the show be set in the continuity of the DCU then we can expect casting to follow across both live-action and animation as with Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Snr.
A Logline released for the show alongside the above artwork reads:
No prison can hold him, no trap can contain him. He is Scott Free, the worldwide celebrity sensation known as Mister Miracle, and he is the greatest escape artist who ever lived. But can he pull off the ultimate trick – and escape death itself?
WBA and DC Studios have said more info will be shared about the series during their adult animation showcase on Friday, so stay tuned for our coverage of the event.
