Review
Harley, in a dream-like fashion, continues to fight herself, well, her brain, in this issue #51. After being knocked out by the gunbuddies, a bunch of “dorks”, Harley finds herself fighting her own brain—literally—which causes her to self-analyse and reflect on her behaviours. It’s meta, it’s goofy, it’s perfectly Harley Quinn—because who else would self-analyse and therapise themselves, resulting in a put-em-up feisty cuff style outcome with their own brain? Exactly.
While all of the traumasploshion is taking place in Harley’s head, her neighbours are frantically trying to rescue her life from the gunbuddies (real name), and they’re a waffling pair who are clearly in over their heads. While their reasonings might be self-interested, it’s cute to see Harley’s neighbours come to her rescue. We have grown quite close to the characters that surround Harley, but in good ol’ comic style, the issue ends on quite the serious cliffhanger—threatening the lives of Harley and everyone around her.
Verdict
In this issue, Harley’s dream-like internal battle and meta self-analysis bring a unique twist to her antics, while her well-meaning neighbours add a touch of humour amidst the chaos. The cliffhanger leaves us anxiously awaiting the fate of Harley and her friends, perfectly embodying the quirky charm of the series.
