Cameras are now officially rolling on the second DC Studios theatrical project. Studio head James Gunn has taken to social media to celebrate the start of production on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by sharing our first look at its star, Milly Alcock, in action.
“Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El,” Gunn shared on X, the microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter. “Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely & Ana Nogueira.”

Starring alongside Alcock are Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Jason Momoa as alien bounty hunter Lobo and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham who will portray Kara’s parents. The film was scripted by Ana Nogueira who is now also rumoured to be being eyed for further DC Studios projects after impressing James Gunn and Peter Safran with her work on the Woman of Tomorrow story.
The film is based on the comic book miniseries of the same name by celebrated writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely.
