Next week DC releases the second issue of one of our favourite new series of 2024, Batman & Robin: Year One. Once again from the creative team of Mark Waid and Chris Samnee, issue #2 of the series will release in comic book stores on November 20, 2024.
In our five-star review of issue #1 Chris said “Batman & Robin: Year One feels like the perfect standalone sequel to Frank Miller’s Year One story. Not only does Mark Waid honour it with his writing, but Chris Samnee’s does so with his art, which takes inspiration from David Mazzucchelli’s previous work. It’s a story that understands that Batman has just as much learning to do as Robin does, building them up to be the dynamic duo we know and love today”.
Before we take a look at that stunning artwork from issue #2 here’s a sneaky peek at the synopsis:
Dick Grayson is struggling to adjust to his new life as Bruce Wayne’s ward, with both Bruce’s rules and Batman’s training making his life difficult. But Dick is happy to remind Bruce that turnabout is fair play. Gotham’s newest crime boss, the General, continues to vie with Two-Face for control—but could an alliance bene?t both of them and spell trouble for Batman and Robin?
The second issue features a main cover by series artist Chris Samnee with variant cover designs from Kevin Nowlan and Dave Johnson. Issue #2 also hits comic book stores with a 1:25 variant cover from Tom Reilly. Take a look at each of the cover designs below:
We also have a look at several fully-lettered preview pages from issue #2 which you can read below. Be warned, there may be spoilers ahead for those who are yet to read the first issue.
Batman & Robin: Year One #2 will release in comic book stores and on digital platforms on November 20, 2024. It is available for pre-order at your local comic shop. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including Kindle, iBooks, and Google Play.
