Casting news from the burgeoning DCU overnight. Several Hollywood trades are reporting that actor Kyle Chandler has entered talks with DC Studios over the role of Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern. If he signs on Chandler would be expected to co-lead the planned Green Lantern TV series at HBO as well as portraying the role in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s wider DC Universe.
As per Deadline, the series hails from Ozark’s Chris Mundy, Watchmen‘s Damon Lindelof and comic book writer Tom King follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
The eight-episode series is set to be produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy, who will serve as showrunner, Lindelof and King are co-writing and executive producing. The project, which received a straight-to-series order in June, marks one of the first titles to come out of the revamped DC Studios.
Chandler is an Emmy winner for his role on Friday Night Lights, he also starred in Bloodline, Catch-22 and Super Pumped. On the big screen, he will next be seen in Back in Action and Anniversary.
