October is, of course, the home of Halloween and so we love to see what our favourite studios and publishers have planned to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. This year DC has two books dropping in October under the DC Horror branding and both feature stories from an actor synonymous with the DCU.
David Dastmalchian first landed in the DCU in 2008 when he played Thomas Schiff in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Then in 2014 he doubled down on DC love by appearing in both Gotham (as Dwight Pollard) and The Flash (Abra Kadabra). In 2021 he made is animation debut as Calendar Man in the two-part Batman: The Long Halloween film whilst returning to the big screen in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad with a now legendary performance as Polkadot Man. In 2023 he voiced two more animated characters with Gredon in Batman: The Doom that Came to Gotham and Flash in Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part Two.
In October Dastmalchian pens the debut of a brand new series, DC Horror Presents: Creature Commandos which comes to comic book stores on October 2. That book features artwork by Jesus Hervas and covers by Tirso, Charlie Adlard and Jim Lee.
Later in the month, Dastmalchian contributes a story to the DC Horror Presents… #1 anthology alongside writer Leah Kilpatrick and none other than the legendary Boulet Brothers. Dragula meets the DCU? Count us in! DC Horror Presents… #1 releases on October 23 with covers by Tyler Crook, Francesco Francavilla, Dave Johnson and Charlie Adlard.
