We had a feeling this news was coming. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin was the top-selling western graphic novel of 2023, and now, IDW Publishing is incredibly proud to announce the eagerly anticipated sequel, TMNT: The Last Ronin II – Re-Evoution, has made a triumphant debut out of the sewers and into comic shops.

Featuring the return of the original creative team – co-writers Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, artists Esau and Isaac Escorza and Ben Bishop, colorist Luis Antonio Delgado, and letterer Shawn Lee – the first issue’s orders rushed past 140K copies. Thanks to the overwhelming popularity of this fan-favorite sequel, a second printing is now on the way as well. The second printing, featuring a new cover by the Escorza brothers, will go on sale on May 15 and fans have until March 25 to pre-order at their local comic shop.

In our four-star review of the series debut, Neil said “a dense but dizzying first chapter in this new story, The Last Ronin II arrives at full speed and works double-time to catch fans up on the last ten years in future NYC.”

“The reaction to, and continued success of The Last Ronin series goes so far beyond anything we imagined at any time during the creation process…  humbling is the best way to sum it up for me,” said Eastman. “The whole team just wanted to tell the best story we could. The fact we get to continue to tell more stories set in the TMNT Last Ronin Universe is another gift from the most incredible fans on the planet.”

IDW Editor-in-Chief Jamie S. Rich is amazed by Eastman’s creativity and the overwhelming positivity from the TMNT community. “We have a saying around IDW – ‘Never underestimate Last Ronin.’ In addition to the numbers on this coming in higher than initial expectations, the fan reaction is once again through the roof. It’s just incredible how excited everyone is to see the incredible legacy of TMNT continued. Forty years down the road, and Kevin Eastman still has the power to wow us!”

TMNT: The Last Ronin II – Re-Evolution #1 is on sale now and the next action-packed issue arrives on May 15. For updates on everything regarding TMNT comics, be sure to follow IDW and the official TMNT accounts on social media.
