Another piece in the Superman: Legacy puzzle has fallen in to place tonight. Director James Gunn has confirmed that composer John Murphy will be taking on the Man of Steel when he returns to the big screen in 2025.
Murphy is no stranger to working with Gunn, having collaborated with the director on both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Suicide Squad. Murphy is also known for on Kick-Ass, 28 Days Later and Sunshine.
Gunn confirmed the news on Instagram saying “Happy to announce that my frequent collaborator [John Murphy] is scoring [Superman: Legacy]. John was one of the first people I called when I finished the script many months ago as I knew how incredibly important the score was to this production.”

The film’s already stacked cast includes David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho. It was recently confirmed that Nicholas Hoult will take on the role of Lex Luthor.
Superman: Legacy is due to hit cinemas on July 11, 2025.
