Review
As the journey to #150 gets ever close the Turtles embark on a perilous journey that descends time on the hunt for Armaggon, it’s time for Leonardo to dig deeper than ever before. Meanwhile Donatello is searching through the 79th Dimension of Null Time and comes face to face with Raphael but there is something not right about his fellow half shell hero, he is a shadow of his former self temporal psychosis is setting in due to meddling with the time space but it’s not too late he can be saved, but how? And by who?
There is a chance of going back in time to correct the situation however that could have repercussions further into the time continuum, whatever they choose to do they need to act fast as time for Raphael is running out and Armaggon is only getting stronger, sacrifices need to be made but with suspicions raising against Bob questions need to be answered, but I don’t think Leonardo is going to want to hear the answers.
I am enjoying this story arc and like the darkness of the story, Sophie Campbell writes a gripping story that twists and turns like a roller coaster through the different dimensions as a fractured TMNT fight the most difficult fight they have come up against. In my opinion the story does get a little lost as you get into the book as there is alot of jumping about but it still kept me hooked and I’m looking forward to see the next issue to see the development of the Bob / Evil Bob character and what effects he will have on the on going story. I have been a fan of the different style of TMNT stories for many years and I must admit the slightly darker tones kind of suit the characters better in my eyes and it opens you up to a new way of looking at what you may already think you know.
The artwork of the book has a dark dramatic tone with Vincenzo Federici utilising his talents perfectly to unlock the readers imagination as you embark on a twisting journey through the different time dimensions, Ronda Pattison injects colours that provide a dramatic vibrancy to the illustrations that add more depth to the overall artistry. My favourite part of the art work apart from the cover (what a beauty that is by the way) is the part where they searching through the Dimension of Null Time it had a creepily dark atmospheric feel that almost gave me chills.
Verdict
A twisting and turning time travelling adventure that leaves you trying to piece together the different pathways at the end. The Turtles are going through a worrying time at the moment with the worry of getting the team back together and the ongoing threat of Armaggon this is definitely a dramatic story arc not to be missed.
