Synopsis
The FINAL battle for the Throne of HELL begins now.
Review
The end is near you can feel it in the air, the battle for Hell’s Throne is beginning to come to it’s dark conclusion as Spawn and Sin battle to become the one that sits on the coveted throne. Those who have tried to stop Sin have fallen as Sin begins to get stronger and stronger, Scion has been ordered back to the Green World by her elders as they believe the fight is done however Scion has other plans and is not ready to give up just yet.
Cataclysm believes he is the one strong enough to stop Sin and stop him going any further than the Keep, that may have been true before but now Sin is harnessing his new found strength he is a different entity entirely and one that is extremely dangerous stopping him will not be easy.
A bloody battle ensues at the Keep as the two enemies and their armies go at it, when Cataclysm sees his bloody end there is a mighty raw of “LONG LIVE THE KING” as Sin stands triumphant above the bloodied remains of his once enemy, the assumption that all is defeated and Sin can now take his rightful place on the throne is maybe a careless mistake to make as a dark figure emerges from the shadows, the fight for Hell’s Throne isn’t quite over yet.
The battle for Hell’s Throne has been one of the best written story arcs I have read in comics, the arc has been allowed to naturally gather it’s own pace and find it’s own path as it has grown into the epic event we now have before us. Rory McConville has brought his talents to the table and showcased what he can do, each issue has left me breathless and blown away as the story hits you harder than a stream train at full power, the intense action is relentless and flows perfectly within the pages. The event we have all been waiting for is finally here and it won’t be one that any Spawn fan will want to miss.
Carlo Barberi has bought his best work yet to this issue providing some of the most breathtaking illustrations I have seen, each panel hits you hard and every blow in battle can be felt from the page. I especially liked how Carlo managed to capture the fight scenes adding depth and emotion which gave the book it’s unique rawness.
Verdict
The event we have been waiting for is here, Hell’s Throne is close to having it’s new King but we still don’t know who but what we do know to get there won’t be a game of draughts this will be a war like no other. Spawn fans you definitely can’t miss this.
