Dungeons & Dragons: Fortune Finder #2 is published by IDW Publishing, written by Jim Zub and illustrated by Joe Jaro.

Issue #2 is available 27th December 2023 either directly from IDW Publishing online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

After the shocking conclusion of last issue, Finder finds themselves undergoing some big changes, but there’s no time to dwell on the past when they must test their luck against a group of assassins in Sigil’s most famous casino!

Will Finder escape with their life, or has their luck run out? Find out in the second issue of the series inspired by the new Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook!

    Review

After the conclusion of the previous issue we were left to believe we had seen the end of Finder but we are now transported back to a time where we see a young elf type that is confused as to what is going on as they are pushed into the strange world at the hustle and bustle of busy kitchen as the event needs catering. Many creatures cross the path of our hero most of which are just going about their business without giving as much as a second glance, that is apart from two important visitors that are deep in equally important discussion.

The events that unfold from here see “Finder” go through a portal that put her and the orc character into a live warrior battle, an ancient warrior battle staged purely for entertainment, now Finder has figured out some of her past they now must unwittingly work together to escape, their lives depend on it. Unknown to this small elf she is on the path to greatness and destined for much bigger things, all is beginning to become clear.

Being a fan of Dungeons & Dragons dice style game I certainly enjoyed this book, it was great to see how Jim Zub interprets this magical world and I am excited to see how the world will expand as the series evolves. I found the writing style of the book not as explosive and intense as some other comics I’m reading but I found the story magical and found a sense of enjoyment as I lost myself in the adventure.

A magical story needs illustrations that invigorate the story nd that’s exactly what Joe Jaro has done here, the illustrations captivate your imagination and take you on a magical journey as Finder finds out the truth. Each panel explodes with colour with mesmerising effect pulling you deeper into the story.

    Verdict

A magical story with mesmerising visuals, I’m enjoying seeing the Finder character evolve and can’t wait to see more as the series progresses.
