    Synopsis

The race for the Throne of Hell is reaching its climax. New alliances have been made and old promises have been broken…

    Review

In this issue we go back to the depths of hell as the race for Hell’s Throne reaches fever point Sinn is getting more powerful by the day with every drop of necroplasm he consumes, some could even say he’s getting too powerful but those who try to stop him are finding it a tough fight even the like of Nix finds coming up against this power hungry monster a struggle.

Spawn has finally met his love, Wanda once again well a different form of Wanda but Wanda all the same and at this point that’s good enough Spawn, but something is amiss but as this point what that is is unclear.

All roads are now leading to the throne leading to an explosive meeting between those who are treading these paths Sin is as powerful as he’s ever been, Spawn is beginning to show the anger that Al has been able to keep controlled for so long but that control is beginning to slip and let’s not forget Clown who is still lurking dangerously in the background. One thing is for sure whoever claims this throne will change the world forever, whether it be for the better or for worse would depend on who will finally sit there.

This battle for hell’s throne has probably been one of the main events in comics this year, Rory McConville has injected a raw intensity in the story that gets your heart racing and your blood pumping. It’s a strange feeling that you kind of know what’s coming but then you also don’t know how it’s going to unfold, as soon as I get a Spawn issue in my hands you just know it’s going to be an intense read you can almost feel the energy from the pages.

Carlo Barberi once again brings a unique rawness to the illustrations that highlights the dark intensity of the story and injects a fierce energy that bursts from each panel. The blood colours from Jay David Ramos shows the darkness of this story perfectly adding to the illustrations to provide a heart racing read.

    Verdict

The race for Hell’s Throne has cranked up reaching fever pitch, a heart racing read that has a furious intensity. Spawn is definitely the standard bearer in the comic industry right now, the creative team definitely know how to create a comic.
