The time has finally come… The Avatar has been reborn. Netflix’s Geeked Week is here, and they’re not messing around this year. As promised, the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the iconic animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender has been released. But that’s not all… We finally have a release date for the upcoming show. Avatar: The Last Airbender will arrive exclusively on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024.

The first trailer delivered an epic look at the world the Avatar is entrusted to protect. From majestic kingdoms, to the sinister complexes of the Fire Nation, this trailer takes us on a journey through many of the recognisable locations we all saw in the animated series. On top of that, we got our first look at Appa, Momo, Suki and her insanely cool Kyoshi Warriors. Even Sozen’s Comet made an appearance in the opening shot.

It’s hard to tell how much of the animated series will be covered in this first season, especially with characters like Azula appearing. Interestingly, there has been no word concerning Toph Beifong, aka The Blind Bandit, who first appears in the 6th episode of season 2 and becomes a core member of the Gaang. Perhaps we’ll see her in the next trailer? Or maybe they’re holding onto Toph until season 2- if the show gets renewed.

    Official Synopsis:

The four nations of the world once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, follows a young Air Nomad named Aang, as he reawakens to a world ravaged by war. Together with his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, he embarks on an action-packed quest to take his rightful place as the next AVATAR.

Gordon Cormier stars as Aang alongside Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka and Dallas Liu as Zuko. Additional cast memebers include Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozia, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Maria Zhang as Suki, and Elizabeth Yu as Azula.

Check out the brand new trailer below:

What do you make of the trailer? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments. Avatar: The Last Airbender will air exclusively on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024. Let the countdown begin. Keep your eyes peeled for more news from the world of fire bending, comets, and cabbages.
