King Spawn #24 is published by Image Comics, written by Sean Lewis and illustrated by Javi Fernandez.

Issue #24 is available 19th July 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

New York has always been a melting pot of different people and cultures but now it’s become a prime destination for some unsavory characters from the wrong side of Hell. Spawn thinks it’s about time he put a stop to that.

    Review

In this issue we see the continuation of the story arc of King Spawn that sees the epic fall out of the opening of the Dead Zones that has created pretty much open season on our gracious land as all that is evil begins to filter through, but there seems to be one thought in their mind and that is to take out the one main Hell Spawn.

Time is running out rapidly for Spawn as his enemies are beginning to catch up with him, but if there is one being that could fix this then my money would definitely be on Spawn but someone is appearing from the shadows and I think he’s going to disagree with my comment, could this be the end of Spawn as we know it?

For me I’d say that Sean Lewis is one of the most talented writers out there at the minute, his engaging writing style has me gripped to the edge of my seat throughout the book, every issue is a one shot read I just can’t put them down, the growth of the King Spawn character is immense and the war for the Dead Zones has to be one of the best battles in comics. Being a fan of Spawn all these years it’s great to see the iconic character growing from strength to strength and Sean Lewis is the perfect choice to take the brand to the next level.

Javi Fernandez provides the intensely dark artwork that makes the story hit harder than you could’ve imagined, dark tones make the visual impact hit the reader hard and will mesmerize you deeper in the book, when you are reading this it will feel like nothing else matters you just need to finish the book.

    Verdict

Intensity ramped up to the top level, the war for the Dead Zones is reaching boiling point setting us up for one of the biggest events in comics. A series you definitely can’t miss, the creative team have taken the Spawn brand to new heights. A definite recommendation from me if you haven’t picked it up yet you definitely need to.
