The Scorched #19 is published by Image Comics, written by Sean Lewis and illustrated by Stephen Segovia.

Issue #19 is available 28th June 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Jessica is rebuilding the Scorched team from the ground up. New members and new missions-what could possibly go wrong?

    Review

In this issue we see the continuation of the story arc that last saw She-Spawn buried and the Planet Eaters reach Earth as they look to begin their planetary cleansing and wipe the planet of this inferior race. The Planet Eaters are among us, the people we look up to, the people we look up to the ones that are supposed to make us feel safe. In the hands of the Senator or Senator Terminus the human race shall be at his command, Earth has been marked and now is the time to rise up.

Meanwhile Monolith and Medieval are outside the family home of She-Spawn or to give her her human form Jessica, contemplating breaking the shattering news to her daughter that mummy isn’t coming home, Spawn turns on Monolith for putting She-Spawn in that position in the first place, as they return to the place of her death Spawn is met by the one who was responsible, it’s time for revenge! However as the battle ensues a rumble appears from below and something or even someone emerges, who or even what could it be?

Sean Lewis continues to write some of the most heart pounding storylines in comics, this The Scorched story continues to evolve and expand with each passing issue offering some of the most full powered explosive writing I have read, each of the books are guaranteed one sitting readers the writing is almost hypnotic and the only thing that matters in that moment is finishing the book.

I am a big fan of the Spawn art style, it’s something that has captured mine and many other fan’s imagination for many years, in the hands of Stephen Segovia this iconic brand and character is definitely in the safest of hands, not only does he continue with the Spawn style we all know and love he has injected a new lease of life into the multiverse that has elevated the story and added the passion and intensity.

    Verdict

At this point this series is basically a guaranteed 5⭐ issue after issue, the creative team behind this are the best in the business. Spawn has been one of my favourite characters in comics for many years and this series has opened my eyes to a whole world of fantastic characters. The intensity of this series continues to grow and I’m looking forward to the next issue to see what’s in store.
