Review
In this issue Spawn takes a deeper look at the dark underworld of Genesis and the black market trade of human brains and the reasons behind the whole trade.
This issue sees the return of a fan favour character in the larger than life detective Sam (part of the Sam and Twitch duo) at the point of discovery Sam is at the beginning of the worst torture a human could imagine and luckily for Sam Spawn is there to save him from the impending darkness. During the daring rescue most of his attackers are taken out but there is one who tries to make a run for it, Sam and Spawn have other ideas and put paid to the escape seeing the opportunity to utilise this hostage situation to delve deeper into this dark corporation.
For a while now Sean Lewis has been one of the strongest writers in comics and this issue proves why, the strength of the story comes through in each panel, I’ve been engrossed in this story arc since the beginning but as it has grown in intensity to a point where it seems the multiverse is set to implode and I am definitely here for that fall out.
Normally Spawn titles have a certain style to them that I enjoy looking at and this book certainly has that look that brings Spawn fans flocking back to these comics, Javi Fernandez perfectly captures the message of the book by laying down darkened tones that almost highlight the graphic nature of this book. Special mention needs to go to Viktor Bogdanovic for the amazing cover artwork that really gives Spawn a menacing image that tells you he means business.
Verdict
Fantastic book with every page, the creative team have once again surpassed my expectations bringing a book that not only intrigues for what’s next it also brings excitement for the remaining story arc. Fully recommend picking this issue up if you haven’t already.
