Review
In this issue we see Javier and Taylor both at the end of their wits and not looking in the strongest frame of mind, Javier/Gunslinger decides to grab the situation by the scruff and get things sorted by also mopping up Taylor in the process. While they are together back at the motel getting their things together ready to move on once again an old acquaintance appears again with a proposition that Gunslinger will find enticing, giving him the chance to face one of his oldest adversaries, but this story isn’t quite as plain sailing as it seems as there are more twists to come that will definitely change the course of this story arc.
Todd McFarlane is definitely the strongest writer in the Image Comics stable that’s for sure, having built up the Spawn world it’s pretty much a given that he has the knowledge and talent to create this off shoot character and build it into one of the strongest in the Spawn world. Gunslinger Spawn doesn’t feel as bold and brash as Spawn, there are different layers to this character and I am having so much fun following his growth.
There is no mistaking the talent of Brett Booth, the dramatic artwork he supplies really highlights the story and adds more feeling to each panel, from the action sequences to the characters each part is detailed and gives depth to the story.
Verdict
As a series Gunslinger Spawn is becoming more intense, this issue wasn’t the most action packed issue but it felt like an important part of the story arc, it feels that this story is about to explode and I can’t wait to see the aftermath.
