To celebrate the upcoming release of Warner Bros and Rooster Teeth’s Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One, James has the absolute pleasure of talking to The Walking Dead‘s Chandler Riggs who has joined the DC Universe as the one and only Superman. Together, they discuss the world of anime, voice acting, and DC superheroes. Check out a little teaser below:
James: Before we get started, I just wanted to say a huge welcome to the DC Universe. This must be really exciting for you.
Chandler: Thank you! Yeah, absolutely. This is a once in a lifetime kind of thing, and it has been one of the most surreal things that I happen to be involved in. It’s so cool to have an opportunity like this. I get to join the DC family and the anime community too! It’s such a crazy blend of worlds and I’m so lucky to be a part of it.
James: When I was writing down questions, I was contemplating whether to talk about anime… I’m a huge anime fan and I didn’t want to just assume.
Chandler: I was kind of off and on for a little while, but my girlfriend is super big into it, so she got me hooked on all of the big shows. So yeah, I am an anime fan for sure.
James: Like you said, you’re now part of the anime community and the DC community. But not just that, your first role in the DC universe is Superman… What was that conversation like?
Chandler: I remember I got the email and I was like “Did you guys send this to the right client here?” Is this for me? It was all so surreal, and I was a huge fan of Rooster Teeth as well. I watched all seasons of Red vs Blue, and I had them on DVD, so getting to work with those guys… It felt very full circle. I remember talking to Kerry (RWBY showrunner) around the time we were recording, and they were just casually throwing around names like “Wonder Woman”, “Batman”, and “Flask”, like, guys! This is crazy. You know that, right? Just throwing around those names like they’re nothing.

The heroes of DC’s Justice League and Rooster Teeth Animation’s RWBY join forces to battle an evil entity attacking Remnant in Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One. The all-new, feature-length DC Animated Movie finds Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern and Vixen in new iterations – transformed into teenagers while in transport to RWBY’s world, and presented in Rooster Teeth’s anime-influenced animation – and partnering with the heroes of Remnant (Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang) to battle a mysterious, superpowered creature before it destroys everything they know.
The upcoming animated feature will be available on Blu-ray on 24th April and on Digital on the 25th.
Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One is produced and directed by by Kerry Shawcross (RWBY franchise) and written by screenwriter Meghan Fitzmartin (Supernatural, Justice Society: World War II).
