Gunslinger Spawn #19 is published by Image Comics, written by Todd McFarlane and illustrated by Brett Booth.

Issue #19 is available 19th April 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

In the future, Gunslinger’s group of allies continues to grow. With Taylor on the path to becoming a warrior and the speedster Focus joining the crew, Gunslinger starts to reassess his mission.

    Review

In this issue we see Gunslinger in what looks to be on his last legs as the Angels seem to have finally got the upper hand on the Hellspawn and come out on top as they get their prey ready to meet God for one final potentially fatal blow, his powers seem to be fading leaving very little of any defence to this barbaric torture, Spawn appears from the clouds to help his fellow HellSpawn and bring back some normality to proceedings but all is not what it seems, maybe there is a way out of this? But is it too late?

As this battle of heaven and hell comes to it’s head the intensity has elevated and the rawness of the story moves up a level.

I can’t say a bad word about Todd McFarlane, as far as I’m concerned he is the godfather of comics and his stories have virtually raised countless comic readers over the generations. This Gunslinger story arc has been interesting from the start, I’ve found the Gunslinger character one of my favourite out of the Spawn universe, the way Todd McFarlane has built this character he has grown in organically and logically to make it one of the strongest story arcs in Spawn. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the battle between heaven and hell unfold the pure action and at times graphic content had me gripped from the very first issue and long may it continue.

I personally don’t think there is another artist out there at the minute in comics that can come close to Brett Booth, the artwork he supplies here is phenomenal each panel is highly detailed and provides the meat to the bones of the story so the reader can feel every word.

    Verdict

Without doubt a 5⭐ entry, I’ve loved this series from the start and look forward to see more from it. The battle of heaven and hell is one that is getting more intense as the issues pass, it has everything you could want from a comic and more.
